New talking points for Condi:
"Oh, you meant that meeting."

From that article
Sean McCormack confirmed a meeting — on July 10, 2001 — that his boss had said repeatedly she could not specifically recall. She had said earlier that there were virtually daily meetings at the time.
|
"I was getting warned that terrorists were trying to attack us just about every day -- it's so hard to remember each of those meetings."

Thanks for posting this. You can see the short term memory loss in Hank, because he keeps going off message and blaming things on Kennedy. It's very sad, and it's good to see a prompt to keep him from going astray.
The part of the article I really like is Ashcroft, putting the blame on Condi for not telling him. Maybe Spanky's right, and they don't circle their wagons. Maybe we'll even see a cat fight between Condi and Rummy. Maybe we'll see Bush's reports looking to clear their names rather than protect their boss from having to answer any more questions about what he knew was true or false and when. Maybe, maybe, maybe.

Why does Senator Frist want to surrender?

Sen. Bill Frist says we should stop trying to fight the Taliban:
- U.S. Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist said Monday that the Afghan guerrilla war can never be won militarily and called for efforts to bring the Taliban and their supporters into the Afghan government. The Tennessee Republican said he had learned from briefings that Taliban fighters were too numerous and had too much popular support to be defeated by military means.
Frist is just lucky that Masturgate and Woodward's book are going to keep his defeatist comments out of the news.

I continue to believe we could have defeated the Taliban soundly had we not siphoned resources off for Iraq. It's a question of prioritizing the fight on real terrorists.

Well, the President gave Tenet a Presidential Medal of Freedom for the CIA's good work on preventing 9/11 and intelligence leading up to the war in Iraq, and he didn't give one to Rice, so we know who he'll be backing.

The meeting was described by Tenet and Cofer Black as a "gun to the head" sort of warning. Rs might remember Cofer Black from Woodward's blowjob "Bush At War." Cofer was the guy who delivered the "flies crawling on their eyeballs" talk to W. When he says he gave a warning, I'm inclined to think it would be one that would be remembered.

Since Tenet says the White House made up the "slam dunk" line attributed to him in Woodward's last book, it's possible that he's returning the favor.
OTOH, he gave the 9/11 Commission the slides from the meeting, so there's not much doubt the meeting occurred.

ummmm, what shouls have been done? we let them all train, and gather and plot for 8 years. attacking Afghanistan mid-2001 would have been too late. rework air security? ummmm that took years after 9/11.
clinton let 20000 terrorists train in Afghanistan, and watched sevral attacks on American interest. You are just being pathetic here.

well that, and not being able to cross the Pakistan border.
What really amazes me, is seeing that most of you can't figure out how to communicate on a bored people chat board (FB) w/o coming across as dull-normal twits, yet you think you actually understand the issues you comment upon here.

This is not a political issue. It's a criminal issue involving at least 1 and perhaps a few other members of congress. The electorate does not need congressional investigations and grandstanding to hold the leadership accountable.

Obviously it is a political issue, in the sense that voters care. You seem to think that voters shouldn't care, but I'm not sure why.

Elections are better in parliamentary systems, though.
